INTRODUCTION
Welcome to esagas.com! Here you will get to enjoy the stories written by our author, WolfMage, about the inhabitants and events in the magical land of Eridia. Below is a basic introduction to the races that inhabit Eridia.
Eridia is a magical land filled with many creatures and races, the most numerous of which are the intelligent humanoids. Of the benevolent races, elves live the longest lives and prefer to dwell within the forests of Eridia, providing a force for freedom and life. A branch of the elves, the sea elves, inhabit the larger lakes, seas and oceans of Eridia. They, too believe in the powers of freedom and life. The second longest-living race are the dwarves, living their lives in the mountains and believing strongly in the forces of goodness and law. Next are the inquisitive gnomes and playful halflings, often found living together. Gnomes love to tinker and invent as they gain understanding for how things work. Halflings love a simple life of living off the land and numerous celebrations. These races inhabit the hills of Eridia, with the halfling living on top and within them and the gnomes preferring to live beneath them, each embracing the forces of peace and nature.
Eridia is in no shortage of its baneful races. The goblinoids races (in order from weakest to strongest) – kobolds, goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, and gnolls, roam the plains pillaging and destroying as they go. These are more lizard (kobold/goblin) or ape-like (orcs/hobgoblins) in appearance, with gnolls as the exception, being 7’ tall humanoids with powerful frames and hyena heads for heads. Each race has numerous tribes and, gratefully, they war with each other even more than they war with the benevolent species. Which is good, for each of these races populate quickly, though with low life spans (even if not killed by another). Their gods teach that one day the goblinoid races will subjugate all others, so it is not uncommon for these tribes to invade other terrains in an effort to kill or enslave a village/city of another species. These species embrace the powers of war, chaos, evil and murder.
Then there’s man – the species of balance and possibilities. They are the only known species willing to live in any terrain and capable of embracing any ideology or power. As one of the shorter lived races, they are capable of procreating more swiftly than the benevolent species though not as quickly as the baneful species. It is because of this unpredictability that the other races openly treat man with suspicion at first as you never know what you’re going to get when you deal with humans. Their ability to live in and thrive in any environment has made them an ideal race to allow to set up trading villages/cites, making it easier for trade between the races to happen (especially between races openly hostile to each other).
What magical land would be complete without its monstrous races – giants, dragons, unicorns, griffons, centaurs, treants and more! Come and enjoy exploring the riches and numerous species that these lands have to offer!
